| jism aur rūḥ meñ āhang nahīñ,
| lażżat-andoz-e dil-āvezī-e mauhūm hai tū
| ḳhastah-e kash-ma-kash-e fikr-o-ʿamal!
| tujh ko hai ḥasrat-e iz̤hār-e shabāb
| aur iz̤hār se maʿżūr bhī hai
| jism nekī ke ḳhayālāt se mafrūr bhī hai
| is qadar sādah-o-maʿṣūm hai tū
| phir bhī nekī hī kiye jātī hai
| kih dil-o-jism ke āhang se maḥrūm hai tū
| 
| jism hai rūḥ kī ʿaz̤mat ke liye zīnah-e nūr
| manbaʿ-e kaif-o-surūr!
| nā-rasā āj bhī hai shauq-e parastār-e jamāl
| aur insāñ hai kih hai jādah-kash-e rāh-e t̤avīl
| (rūḥ-e yūnāñ pah salām!)
| ik zimistāñ kī ḥasīñ rāt kā hangām-e tapāk
| us kī lażżāt se āgāh hai kaun?
| ʿishq hai tere liye naġhmah-e ḳhām
| kih dil-o-jism ke āhang se maḥrūm hai tū!
| 
| jism aur rūḥ ke āhang se maḥrūm hai tū!
| varnah shab-hā-e zimistāñ abhī be-kār nahīñ
| aur nah be-sūd haiñ ayyām-e bahār!
| āh insāñ kih hai vahmoñ kā paristār abhī
| ḥusn be-chāre ko dhokā sā diye jātā hai
| żauq-e taqdīs pah majbūr kiye jātā hai!
| ṭūṭ jāʾeñge kisī roz mazāmīr ke tār
| muskarā de kih hai tābindah abhī terā shabāb
| hai yihī ḥaẓrat-e yazdāñ ke tamasḳhur kā javāb!
