| gul-o-yāsmin kal se nā-āshnā,
|         kal se be-ěʿtinā
| gul-o-yāsmin apne jismoñ kī haiʾat meñ fard
| magar——kal se nā-āshnā, kal se be-ěʿtinā
| kisī marg-e mabram kā dard
|     un ke dil meñ nahīñ!
| 
| faqat̤ apnī tārīḳh kī be-sar-o-pā t̤alab ke tale
| ham dabe haiñ!
| ham apne vujūdoñ kī pinhāñ taheñ
| kholte tak nahīñ
| ārzū bolte tak nahīñ!
| yih tārīḳh merī nahīñ aur terī nahīñ
| yih tārīḳh hai izdiḥām-e ravāñ
| usī izdiḥām-e ravāñ kī yih tārīḳh hai,
| yih vuh chīḳh hai
|     jis kī takrār apne man-o-tū meñ hai
| vuh takrār jo apnī tahżīb kī hū meñ hai!
| 
| tujhe is pah ḥairat nahīñ
| ham is izdiḥām-e ravāñ ke nishān-e qadam par chale jā rahe haiñ
| baṛhe jā rahe haiñ
| kih ham z̤ulmat-e shab meñ tanhā
|     paṛe rah nah jāʾeñ——
| baṛhe jā rahe haiñ,
| nah jīne kī ḳhāt̤ir
|     nah is se fizūñ zindah rahne kī ḳhāt̤ir
| baṛhe jā rahe haiñ, kisī ʿaib se
|     rahzan-e marg se bach nikalne kī ḳhāt̤ir,
| judāʾī kī ḳhāt̤ir!
| kisī fard ke ḳhauf se baṛh rahe haiñ
| jo bāt̤in ke ṭūṭe darīchoñ ke pīchhe
| sharārat se hañstā chalā jā rahā hai—
